Winemaking

Winemaking process

The winemaking process consists of the following main stages:

  1. Harvesting: Grapes are collected from the vineyard when they are ripe and ready for winemaking.
  2. Crushing and Pressing: Grapes are crushed to release their juice. For white wines, grapes are typically pressed immediately, while for red wines, the crushed grapes are left to macerate for a few days to extract color and tannins.
  3. Fermentation: Fermentation is the process where the sugars in the grape juice are converted into alcohol and carbon dioxide through the action of yeast. This can take place in open or closed tanks, depending on the type of wine being produced.
  4. Aging: The wine may be aged for a period ranging from several months to years. This can occur in wooden barrels or stainless steel tanks, depending on the desired outcome.
  5. Filtration and Bottling: After aging, the wine may be filtered to remove any particles and then bottled, ready for consumption.
